First Love

No, not that story… though I did marry my first love.

What about the earliest love, or passion, in life? For me, it was the transcendent power of dance, beginning at age four. It was a natural pursuit to train in dance as a performing and healing art.

Do you know that mirror neurons fire up when you watch a dance performance? You have a physiological response, a deep level of engagement. Take it a bit further: how about witnessing your own movement, your own authentic expression? That is enlightening.

Transitions have always fascinated me. How does one movement lead to another; how do we navigate transitions in our lives? I’ve lived in Panama, France, Thailand, and the U.S., raised two daughters, been a military spouse, shifted career paths several times.

How do you identify yourself? Sometimes I’m a yoga teacher, other times a writer, always a dancer, mother, wife, friend, fundamentally an honest human looking for gateways of expression, connection, and wonder. Cue the muse, our own creative nature.

May we dwell in inspiration…
